A few weeks ago we made a quick weekend trip to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. The kids had been wanting to go, and we'd been trying to find a good time to go since before Christmas. Maybe next year we'll make it down to see all the beautiful lights. Anyway, we finally just decided to go, even if we didn't get to spend a lot of time there.
We went to see the new interactive Book of Mormon exhibit at the Church History Center. I think we all would have enjoyed it a lot more if it wasn't so crowded. I guess that's what you get for going on a Saturday. We walked around Temple Square, took a few pictures and showed the kids the temple. We also walked the South Visitors Center. The have a neat exhibit in there about the building of the Salt Lake Temple. The kids couldn't believe how much work went into building that beautiful building. To be honest, neither can I. Seriously, 40 years?!!! I haven't even lived that long yet! The early Saints of the LDS church were amazing.
We also watched the Joseph Smith movie at the Joseph Smith Memorial building. Cooper and Carson were completely enthralled by it. Lainee and Ashlin became a little restless toward the end so we had to go roam the halls for the last 15 minutes. On our way back to the car we walked by the Conference Center. Cooper wanted to see the roof garden, so we asked if they'd give us a mini tour. I've been in the Conference Center before, but never up to the roof top. The garden is really neat! We also looked inside the Conference Center and showed the kids where they hold conference. The kids were a bit disappointed that President Monson wasn't in there so they could say Hi! Haha! Maybe someday. Cooper now cannot wait until he is 8 so that he can go to a conference session. I wish I could say that was a long time away, but in reality, Cooper will turn 8 in just a little over a year. Yikes! How did that happen?
