Happy Birthday Carson!
Carson turned 2 on April 18th. He has grown up so much lately; I can hardly believe it! He's such a good big brother to Lainee, and he tries so hard to be as big as Cooper and do everything he's doing. We made him a "barnyard" cake, because the first thing he wants to do when Randall gets home from work at night is "Go feed the horses and the baby calf." Yes, we inherited a baby calf a few weeks ago. That's quite the story in and of itself. Anyway...

We love you Carson! Thanks for being our little snuggle bug!

Lainee's Blessing Day

Our Easter Sunday was extra special, because we were able to bless Lainee yesterday, on Easter Sunday. Lainee looked so beautiful. She also turned 2 months old yesterday... I can't believe how fast she is growing! We were fortunate to have almost all of our immediate family come over along with a few friends. They all had to come a long distance to share this special day with us-- thank you everyone! It meant a lot to have you all here! I'm sorry you had to crowd into our little house, but we hope you enjoyed being here even half as much as we enjoyed having you; please come again soon!
Here are a few more pictures of our beautiful Lainee:

1st ER visit

Well, Randall & I made it nearly 4 years with kids without a trip to the ER. That all came to a screaching halt Friday, April 10, 2009. Randall was home for lunch and decided he wanted a quick nap before returning to work. Carson wanted to 'snuggle up' with his daddy for a few minutes. Next thing I know, I hear a thump in the living room and Randall call for help. Carson had fallen off the edge of the couch and landed head first on our rock fire place.
When I rounded the corner and saw my little boy screaming in pain in his daddy's arms, blood dripping everywhere, my immediate reaction was to panic. I knew that reacting that way didn't do anyone any good, so somehow I managed to stay calm. The cut was nearly 2 inches long and very deep- clear to the skull. Randall thought about stitching Carson up himself (veterinarians are very good at that, you know), but we were worried about a possible concussion. So off to the Mountain Home ER we went.
Randall & I were both a bit nervous about the quality of care we would receive at the Mountain Home hospital. Reports aren't exactly great. Randall first told the nurse that he was a veterinarian and wanted them to check to make sure Carson was okay and then take him home to do the suturing himself. You should have seen the look on the nurse's face. Priceless! However, the ER doctor was wonderful and instilled some confidence in us, so Randall agreed to let him fix up his little boy. I'm afraid my poor little Carson is going to end up with quite a scar on his forehead.
When we first arrived at the hospital, I had managed to calm Carson down. He was trying to fall asleep on the way in, but I kept him awake. He didn't mind the nurse or doctor looking him over, but as soon as they mummy wrapped him to begin the stitches he began screaming and didn't stop until they were done. Poor little guy. My heart ached to see my little boy in so much pain. All I wanted to do was hold him and make the pain go away. Better yet, I wanted to rewind the clock and prevent the accident from happening in the first place!
Carson isn't about to let a bump on his forehead slow him down, though. He was a bit clingy and whiney over the weekend with all our family here for Lainee's blessing, but he's back to running around like a crazy man!
