Diggin' Taters

We try to venture over to the land of Idaho potatoes every year in October to spend some time with my family and let my kids experience potato harvest. Growing up my brothers and I lived and breathed potato dirt every October. When I was old enough to help work I spent my time in the cellars unloading trucks, picking out dirt clods and running the piler. Then when I was enough to drive I was promoted to truck driver. Sometimes I miss working in potato harvest, but I don't miss working in the cold on those yucky weather days, nor do I miss the extremely long and late hours (sometimes they work until 1 or 2 in the morning!)

My kids love to help my brothers and dad on the farm. If you ask them what their favorite part was of our trip, they'll both say riding in the tractor :)

My mom, Carson, and my Grandma Schneiter- a rare picture of my Grandma Schneiter as she is always dodging the camera :)

My brother Tyrel is in the tractor with the digger loading up that truck. Carson was riding with him and quickly fell asleep. Good thing the extra seat has a seat belt!

OK, I know this picture of me looks incredibly ridiculous, but Lainee has a cute smile and I wanted a picture of her and I out there in the field, too. It was cold and windy, and I was trying to keep Lainee warm. I had her in a little carrier so I could walk and have my hands free, then I had a blanket wrapped around her little legs, and then I zipped my jacket around her to keep everything in place.
