We didn't have much planned for the long weekend, and after spending most of the month at the hospital or doctor's office with Randall or at the school with the kids, I was ready for a change of pace. So we invited Randall's sister and her family over and just hung out. The kids played and played and played, went on a few four-wheeler rides, and we went on a little cemetary hunt to find the oldest head stone we could find.
Growing up, Randall and I both spend Memorial Day visiting the gravesites of family members. We've never lived close enough to be able to do that, but I still wanted my kids to know why we celebrated Memorial Day. So we walked around, looked at the flags representing someone who served in the military, and I gave the kids all a piece of paper and a crayon to do a headstone rubbing. Pretty neat!
